Valerie Yule, was only 21 years old in 1950 when she and her husband George left Australia for Korea, where George was to teach at Kosin University, Pusan (now Busan). They had been four months in Korea when North Korea invaded the South. Valerie was evacuated to Japan, along with other non-Korean women and children, and several weeks later was reunited with George at a railway station in Tokyo. This memoir describes a young woman's impressions of Korea up until the outbreak of the Korean War
