"The Legend of Shara" traces a well known story from the 3rd Millennium BC and the Rig Veda into heart of Judaism. It explains how multiple religions today like Judaism, Christianity and Islam have at their core a common core of religious ideas that are drawn from early Hindu Scripture and recorded in Puranas. From Noah and the patriarchs likes Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to the later legends around David, core Puranic ideas came to form the Torah and drew deeply from their spiritual and religious concepts. More importantly, all the stories have deep roots in Polytheistic Puranas.
We look at how Biblical Minimalism does not go far enough in explaining the roots of the Torah or Old Testament and many modern scholars stop short of addressing the "From Whence" question. "The Legend of Shara" provides key answers to the mystery behind Abraham and the Patriarchal Narratives.
Even today many Christians and Jews ask "Who is Yahweh? Who is El Shaddai?" and often miss the answers to the question as they avoid the Polytheistic backdrop from which the Bible arose. What is more important is how Exodus and Kings 1/Samuel 1 which contain the stories of Moses and David, draw deeply from Puranic stories and comparisons with Puranas explain very clearly who these deities really are.
The book does not recommend belief systems but explains why there is a deep-rooted spiritual link and an underlying Unity amongst all the major religious scriptures that we follow today.
Written for ordinary readers who understand either the Bible or have some background in Purana, it posits a "Puranic School" as the best way to explanation for understanding the Torah. And invites all readers to discover this new understanding of God.
