Throughout history, women have consistently demonstrated their unwavering commitment to serving and protecting their communities. From providing medical aid during times of war to advocating for social justice causes, women have played an integral role in shaping society, often stepping into volunteer roles when needed the most. However, there is one remarkable group of women volunteers that history has long forgotten – the Women Volunteer Corps during the Comfort Women Issue.

The term "Comfort Women" is a euphemism used by the Imperial Japanese Army during World War II to refer to women and girls who were forced into sexual slavery. These women endured unimaginable suffering and trauma at the hands of the Japanese military, and their stories have often been neglected or dismissed. However, amidst the darkness, a group of incredible women volunteers emerged as beacons of hope and compassion.

The Formation of the Women Volunteer Corps:

In the early 1930s, as tensions between Japan and neighboring countries rose, the Japanese government recognized the need for a support system for their military personnel stationed abroad. This led to the establishment of the Women's Volunteer Corps, an organization primarily composed of Japanese women who desired to serve their country and make a difference.
