A simple story for those beginning to read Mandarin Chinese, suitable for children and adults learning the language e.g. for the HSK exams. The text uses 41 basic words, and is the first in the series about the two characters Big Cat and Little Dog. This book introduces the characters before their adventures in later books in the series. In the first part, words appear at the bottom of each page in the first section, along with their pinyin and English translations. In the second part, the same story appears without the English and pinyin translations. All of the new words are summarised at the end of the book in the order that they appear in the text. At the end of the book are some short translation questions and answers to test the reader's use of the vocabulary used in the book. Please note Amazon's automatic speech enable feature does not work for bilingual books and therefore does not correctly pronounce the Chinese in this book.
